About me

It was in my late teens that the fine arts became a passion of mine; had photography not seduced me away, I would have gone on to study at Michaelis Art School in Cape Town.
The attraction to photography led me to Dirk Schwager Studios. From day one as an understudy, I was assigned to darkroom duties. After 16 months in-the-dark, Dirk finally handed me his Nikon F2, one roll of black-and-white film, ushered me into daylight; "Bring back photographs -make sure they 'sehr gut ja'..!"

BACK TO MY FIRST LOVE:
It has been some 40 years that I went out on my own as a professional, yet, the passion for the fine arts still courses through my veins! To remedy this dilemma, is to dabble in analogue photography to appease the 'fine-art' blood flow/...
In July 2012, I hauled out my favourite primes, trusty Nikon SLR's, imported Kodak & Ilford 135mm roll film stock. My time-worn Sekonic light meter round my neck as sloppy as my old school tie. Again, I head out into daylight with good intent. Dirk's distant voice still echoes, "... -make sure they 'sehr gut ja'..!"
YES! It is time to display original B&W handprints, framed & proudly hung on gallery walls...
PS: (I seldom lug my DSLR gear when out shooting B&W Film collections.)
