ABOUT
CONCEPT:
It all started with the Covid pandemic. I volunteered my videography skills to our local church to produce weekly sermons well-scripted to resemble feature film narratives. In addition, I produced 'vlogumentaries' of our delightful False Bay to entertain our elderly church folk cooped up at home...
EXECUTION:
When Covid restrictions were lifted, I ventured farther and covered the greater Cape Peninsula and its environs.
(I have continued to this day –we now have large audiences both in South Africa and abroad.)
Knowing that these vlogumentaries uplifted viewer morale, I made sure to keep them topical, entertaining and pointed at God's creation.
I'm no 'Voice Over' artist by any means, but narrating each film myself kept it personal to church members and close friends. Many folks offered fresh ideas or suggested topics. The good thing is many in our congregation forwarded the vlogs far and wide–needless to say, our viewership grew each week. On investigating YouTube stats, it has proved we have more viewers than the folks attending church! It gives new meaning to flinging 'good seed' far 'n wide–not only to those living in Cape Town but now to international viewers.
RESULT:
The rewards far exceeded my expectations! Applying the God-given talents awarded to me at birth plus, the experience I gained in producing short documentaries, I realised how powerful social media is for spreading the Good News as well as demonstrating the wonderments of nature...
