ABOUT
CONCEPT:
To translate expressions or idioms into photographs.
Idioms: cross the line (Project Title), dividing line, lines in the sand, set the boundary, overstep the mark, toe the line, align yourself, draw the line etc...
EXECUTION:
Almost everyone who wanders along this promenade, Jager's Walk, will be inclined to photograph False Bay's natural splendour. Visitors do the walk to take in the grand views. I decided to pay attention to the white pedestrian demarcation lines –to see where one's feet tread. Yet, capturing scenic photographs of the bay without incorporating too many low-angle shots.
Every six months the demarcation lines are repainted; one gets the impression that they jump up at you. Shooting a few minutes before and immediately after sunset, the pedestrian lines appear more juxtaposed. It's all about the snow-white line contrasting with the waning light of day; this daylight transition lasts for approximately 15-25 minutes before the camera fails to render natural daylight colour temperatures–the magic lost as nightfall competes with daylight...
RESULT:
This collection is to honour a dear friend, Mark Baldwin and to hone my skills. I know Mark will appreciate my photographic treatment, being a creative man himself. We often stroll Jager's Walk late afternoons for a chat and to get ourselves lined up for the days ahead.
