ABOUT
The Artist in Colour
This project proved to be quite a challenge for me personally; this age-old tradition of fishing dates back to the late 17th century. What's more, it continues to take place almost daily during our summer months just a mere 170 metres from my front doorstep. This activity has become like second-nature to me; I watch them intently, however, grabbing my camera doesn't come to mind. So, how am I to photograph these fishermen plying their ‘hands-on’ skills? Especially as the novelty has worn off... let alone for me to successfully capture it aesthetically and what's more from a fresh and original point-of-view? it would be far easier to just go down to the beach and purchase a fresh 'Yellowtail' to share with friends while quaffing down a bottle of fine wine. Then, there are other hassles, having to evade the many tourists armed with point-and-squirt-devices plus keeping them out of my frame and POV! Anyway, after some deliberation, I decided I had better get out there and give it my best shot (pun intended)…
