Life through Google Glass

Published

By Owen Bailey

Google have given us a glimpse of what we can expect to see in the future. It's life through Google's very own lenses.

*I'm sure that you've by now heard that Google has been developing specs that will enable us to access all of the digital information that we're constantly on the hunt for, without the need to peer at a screen. Now we just need to peer through glass. Google Glass to be specific. It's like holding a see-through smartphone to your face.

The glasses are able to respond to voice command, and can receive and send images, videos and messages.

Google first showcased their revolutionary product at the Google I/O Conference in 2012. They have now released their first look at what we can really expect to experience from the new technology - How It Feels [through Glass].

The interface from the perspective of the wearer looks pretty amazing with an unobtrusive display at the corner of the screen. One slight concern was to see the main image go out of focus when messages appear - cue me, falling in to a heap over a pile of bags left by the side of the road. In reality I'm hopeful that this was an effect added for the purpose of the video - we will see.

Not that we're ones to complain, but there are also limited shots of the glasses on the users face. There always has to be a worry over how ridiculous we'll look wearing them. I guess the thinking is that if we all do it, the ones that fall behind will be the ridiculous looking ones. Again, we'll see!

*If you want to find out more about the project as well as how to get your hands on a pair during the early phase visit the Google Glass website.
