KV 'Pops' Sridhar to join SapientNitro as chief creative officer

Published by

It was announced last week that KV Sridhar, the erstwhile chief creative officer for Leo Burnett in India who is affectionately known as 'Pops' by his friends and co-workers, will be taking the CCO post at SapientNitro, the interactive marketing, creative design and technology services agency. The agency is a part of Sapient (NASDAQ: SAPE), a USA-based agency with interests in what it calls integrated, omni-channel commerce. Pops will be based out of the agency's Mumbai office and as well as filling the CCO role, he will also be a member of the agency's global executive creative team. He will report to Andy Greenaway, the executive creative director for the APAC region, and will work closely with the managing director of SapientNitro India, Rajdeep Endow.

Pops left Leo Burnett earlier this month, having spent 17 years of his 30 year long career at the agency. He was replaced with BBDO's Rajdeepak Das, who will head the agency's creative function across India and the subcontinent. When he announced he was leaving last month, Pops said that it had been a “Purposeful journey” for him at Leo Burnett, and was glad that he'd had a “Chance to play a key role in shaping the agency's creative prowess.” He says he is thrilled to join SapientNitro as he feels they are “Redefining what it means to be an agency in today's hyper-connected world," chiefly the need to “Recognise the critical need for strategy, creative and technology to blend together.”

Endow is “ Delighted and honoured to welcome a creative stalwart of Pops' calibre” to the team, and underlines the industry veterans “Renowned creative excellence and deep expertise in the Indian market.” He feels this expertise will be instrumental in the agencies “Ability to serve the growing client demand in the region for a unique blend of connected capabilities across brand, digital, experience design and technology." Gaston Legorburu, the worldwide CCO for SapientNitro, adds that Pops is “A creative powerhouse renowned for his ability to lead and develop talent,” and he feels he shares the agency's “Vision for redefining storytelling for an always-on world.” He says that “Brands today recognise the need for sustaining consumer engagement across devices and channels,” and believes “The addition of Pops reflects that evolution and furthers the agency's ability to create strategic advantages for clients in this rapidly expanding market."

Pops got his start in the advertising industry after a stint as a billboard painter for Bollywood. As an artist, he has also held several exhibitions and his paintings are on display at the Andhra Pradesh Lalit Kala Academy, Hyderabad Art Society, Modern Pavilion at the Salarjung Museum, Hyderabad and the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority. He was recently in the news for joining the left leaning Aam Aadmi political party (AAP).
