Reflections. A Portrait Series Looking At Our Youth

Published by

Tom Hussey is an award-winning lifestyle advertising photographer based in Dallas, Texas.  In a series entitled Reflections, Hussey shows a series of portraits depicting elderly people looking in a mirror at their younger self.

The photographer arrived upon the concept for his bittersweet series after a conversation with an 80-year-old World War II veteran who couldn't believe how quickly time had passed. "He commented that he didn’t understand how he could be 80 years old as he felt he was still a young man. He just didn’t feel it was possible he could be 80 years old," Hussey told the American Society of Media Photographers.

Each passing year of our lives helps us understand the significance of this photo series. We reflect upon our past enjoying the accomplishments that still make us smile today. Hussey helps us recapture those moments in a creative and artistic way.
