Senior UX Designer - Security & Identity

About the role:
This senior UX designer role will work within the colleague security and identity and account management space. The focus is on improving colleague security while balancing usability, operational needs and technical constraints.
They’ll be the sole designer in the space so we need someone who is comfortable across all parts of the design process and able to work directly with the domain team.
Key Problem Areas:
1. Colleague Security:
How do we increase security and reduce risk while maintaining a good colleague experience?
- Security controls across the business
- Browser restrictions and secure browsing
- Safe use of tools e.g. file sharing, collaboration tools, and AI
- Phishing prevention and risk management
- Communicating security information appropriately
2. Identity & Access Management:
How do we make access and identity services more transparent and self-serviced?
- Access reviews and permissions management
- Account setup, authentication and recovery
- Self-service management of specialist accounts
- Improving transparency and reducing support effort

You will be responsible for:
- Redefining complex colleague experiences into simple, intuitive, and user-centred solutions.
- Leading the end-to-end design process, including discovery, user and service mapping, ideation, wireframing, prototyping, testing, and iteration.
- Championing human-centred design principles and advocating for user needs across the wider business.
- Working collaboratively within and across agile squads to design, develop, and enhance digital product experiences.
- Partnering with UX researchers to build empathy for users, including those with disabilities, and ensuring their needs are represented in design decisions.
- Planning and conducting lightweight research activities, including usability testing, A/B testing, and prototype validation.
- Using quantitative data and analytics insights to inform design decisions and measure success.
- Promoting inclusive and accessible design practices to create experiences that work for everyone.
- Evaluating the impact of design solutions and contributing to a culture of evidence-based decision-making.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to identify opportunities and deliver effective, user-focused solutions.
- Facilitating stakeholder workshops, co-creation sessions, and design-thinking activities to drive innovation and alignment.
- Delivering high-quality, consistent design outcomes by leveraging the digital design system, its components, patterns, and best practices.
- Creating user interface designs, prototypes, and interactive experiences in Figma with support from UI design specialists where required.
- Partnering with the Design System team to evolve and improve design standards based on user insights and business needs.
- Supporting teams across the organisation in understanding the value and impact of design on product and business outcomes.
- Providing constructive feedback and mentorship to fellow designers, helping to strengthen design capability across the team.
- Supporting the learning, development, and performance of other designers through coaching and line management opportunities.
- Working closely with the Design Manager to foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing design culture.
You will need:
- A strong, well-curated portfolio demonstrating your expertise across web, responsive and native design.
- Prior involvement in high-profile design projects ideally in an enterprise environment.
- Passion for solving product problems while balancing all facets of a user experience (strategy and research, information architecture, interaction design, accessibility).
- A good understanding of the end-to-end iterative design process including how to develop and use design research, journey mapping, wire-framing, prototyping, and user testing to achieve human-centred design solutions.
- Proficiency in interaction design for web (desktop and mobile) and native applications
- Experience of designing with accessibility in mind and meeting WCAG 2.1 level AA.
- Experience collaborating closely with multiple fields including product and engineering.
- Self-motivated and organised with good time management skills.
- Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills to all levels of seniority and subject areas within the organisation.
- Ability to coach, mentor and set standards for ways of working for more junior team members.
- Proficiency with current industry design and collaboration tools such as Figma, Miro, etc.
- A solid understanding of: Jira, Confluence, Adobe Creative Suite.
- Previous experience in the retail sector is an advantage.
