Super sized sugary lettering from jelly London's Alison Carmichael

Published by

This week we have some giant lettering news for you... Quite literally, it's billboard size.

From 1st December until 19th December, a VivaWomen! exhibition “There’s a Good Girl” will exhibit female artists and creatives who don’t play by the rules, and just refuse to be good girls. Naturally jelly’s Alison Carmichael will be there.

Queen of letterin Alison Carmichael,  has been collecting industry accolades for over 15 years for her unique hand crafted typography. Famous for her diverse range of styles and versatile approach to lettering.

Alison’s playful, yet elegant lettering was inspired when she was, “trying to think of a really nice "sweet” way of illustrating the ironic saccharine title of the exhibition, and decided that the ideal medium would be multi-coloured sugar strands as you can’t really get much sweeter than that!”.

This isn’t the first time Alison has broke the rules and played with her food. In the past she’s used everything from ketchup, shampoo to loose tea leaves to make her iconic handcrafted typography, working with an impressive list of clients and leaving her mark on contemporary culture.

Created for a VivaWomen! project that inspires, supports and promotes women in advertising, a percentage of any artwork sold will go to charity Plan Uk. Which works with the world’s poorest children to improve their opportunities in life and end poverty.

To get your sugary fix visit The Assembly Rooms, 8 Silver Place, London, W1F 0JU from 1st December until 19th December. Opening hours Monday-Friday 9am -6pm. Free admission.

The Charity – Plan Uk
Plan Uk work with the world’s poorest children so they can move themselves from a life of poverty to a future with opportunity. And Plan’s 76-year history has shown us that worldwide, no-one bears the brunt of poverty more than girls. Plan are the experts on girls’ rights and Because I am a Girl is their flagship campaign.

They have already helped 58 million girls and by 2016, we aim to support hundreds of millions more so that they will be free from violence and can get the education, skills and support they need to become powerful forces for change in their communities.
