'Local Hero' Roy Wisnu joins Lowe Indonesia from McCann New York as Group CCO

It was announced yesterday that legendary creative ad man Roy Wisnu will be joining Lowe Indonesia as the agency's new group CCO, leading Lowe's creative across all its Indonesian divisions, including digital division Lowe Profero, and activation arm Lowe OPEN. Wisnu joins Lowe Indonesia from McCann New York. He has been based in the big apple since 2008, when he led creative for JWT, before moving to McCann in 2012, where he has since served as creative director.

The Bandung born Wisnu is a true legend in the industry, having won so many awards in his 20 year, international career that he is officially recognised as one of Indonesia's all time most awarded creatives. At the age of 28, Wisnu became one of the country's youngest ever executive creative director's at Ogilvy & Mather, and under his leadership, the Indonesian advertising industry made a name for itself for the very first time at D&AD, Cannes and Clio. He was also named Creative Director of the Year for three consecutive years running in 2002, 2003 and 2004. His work has been consistently honoured at industry award shows such as Cannes, Clio, ADC and the One Show, among countless others, and his 2011 campaign with Human Rights Watch for Burma's Political Prisoners, earned him a coveted D&AD Black Pencil.

Lowe Indonesia CEO Joseph Tan, can hardly believe that the agency has “Managed to convince the highly revered Indonesian creative legend to come back,” and says they are “Simply elated” to have the “Local hero” on board. He goes on to say that “Lowe Indonesia is a top player in the marketplace,” and that Wisnu's inclusion will allow them to “Raise the bar high for the best local talent, and world class work” with their clients. Both Lowe Asia Pacific regional president Rupen Desai, and president of Lowe and Partners Global Creative Council Jose Miguel Sokoloff agree with their colleague. Desai calls Wisnu “one of the most respected creative leaders in the world,” and Sokoloff underlines the “Experience, passion and great talent” that he'll bring to the agency. All three feel he'll make an amazing contribution to the agency, which will surely lead to great things.

Wisnu himself is glad to return home to Indonesia, seeing “Many opportunities and a passion towards creative excellence” in his home country. He says it's these things that has called him home, as well as the “Potential and challenge at Lowe Indonesia,” which he says is “Incredibly exciting.” He looks forward to bringing his own particular knowledge and experience to the agency, which he feels is exceptionally strong and “Has all the components and passion to soar.”
