GoPro unveil a “Fetch Harness” that lets users see the world from their dog's POV

Published by

GoPro, the developers of the mobile HD video camera that has been taking the world by storm, recently unveiled a new device that allows GoPro owners to film from the perspectives of their dogs. The new 'Fetch' mount, which is the company's first pet accessory, is fully adjustable, to the extent that it's able to comfortably fit anything from small, 15 pound nippers to 120 pound whoppers. It also includes two mount locations for GoPro HERO cameras; on the back and on the chest, so it can capture all of a dog's typical activities (Digging, running and general exploring) from two angles. Because the HD HERO cameras are waterproof up to 60 metres, you can even capture video footage of your pooch taking a paddle!

Paul Osborne, the senior director of product management at GoPro, said "The adaptability and versatility of GoPro cameras make them the perfect device to document life from a dog's point of view." He said the product is not simply a generic harness, but a device designed from the ground up to “Meet the unique needs and usage for pets.” He said himself and the team at GoPro “Can't wait to see the images and videos that owners will capture and share now that they have a mount specifically for their dog."

Introducing Fetch (Dog Harness)

The harness (which you can see in action for yourself above) encompasses a water-friendly mount, which will hold up in mud, snow and water and can be machine or hand washed. The kit (which is available now from the official GoPro website for $59.99) also includes a tether, which keeps the camera attached to the harness no matter how aggressive the behaviour of the users dog. Whilst the idea of a camera mounted on a pet might not be a particularly new one, this is the first time a device has been released specifically with that purpose in mind, and could be a real game-changer for the company, who have been transforming the way consumers capture, manage, share and enjoy meaningful life experiences all around the world.

A variety of attachments and accessories that already exist for GoPro cameras include everything from a Wi-Fi remote control to a 3D attachment, which allows users to capture 3 dimensional videos. From extreme to mainstream, professional to consumer, GoPro has enabled the world to capture and share its passions, and the world, in turn, is enabling GoPro to become one of the most exciting and aspirational companies of our time.
