June 8th is going to be a big day in everyone’s calendars, but for freelancers in particular. That’s because it’s not just the general election, it’s also National Freelancers Day! So book your tickets, drop off your ballots and come join IPSE, the Association of Independent Professionals and the Self-Employed, for a celebration of all things freelance.
It’s a nationwide celebration, with fringe gatherings in both Bristol and Manchester. We’ll be hosting the main event in London, at the prestigious Kings Place venue near St Pancras Station. Kicking off at 1pm, it will include everything from panels and workshops to a talk with experts from Freelancer.com. Not forgetting the renowned Freelancer of the Year Awards in the evening.
The workshops held throughout the day, will cater for all levels of experience - from students and professionals just starting out, to seasoned freelancers at the top of their game. They’ll cover a whole range of vital subjects, including freelancer finances, employment law and how to grow your network.
It’s not just workshops either: there’ll also be exhibitions, a collaboration zone and the chance to get one-to-one advice from Intuit QuickBooks, HSBC, Contractor Mortgages Made Easy, Close Brothers and, of course, IPSE. There will even be complimentary professional headshots on offer!
For the first time ever, we’ll also be hosting fringe events at Desklodge in Bristol and Ziferblat Edge Street in Manchester. At both, you’ll be able to network with leading names in your region’s freelancing community and watch live updates from the main London event.
The day itself will wind up at five, then it’s on to the Freelancer of the Year Awards, which will be held in London and live-streamed to Bristol and Manchester. At the Awards, we’ll be choosing the IPSE Co-Working Space of the Year and the IPSE University Partner of the Year.
We’ll be celebrating the achievements of 15 exceptionally talented freelancers from across the UK. Five finalists for the Under-24 Aspire Award and 10 for the main Inspire Freelancer of the Year Award. This year, we’re also introducing a new award: the IPSE Ambassador of the Year, celebrating the people who provide products and services to support the freelancing community.
