The 4th Annual Lovie Awards Show

Published by

The 4th Annual Lovie Awards was an amazing night to remember celebrating the very best of the European web. Comedian and TV presenter Mark Dolan was our host on the night, handing Special Achievement awards to Jamie Oliver, Sophie Wilson (ARM Processor), internet sensation Dan Howell and GiveMeTap founder Edwin Broni-Mensah.
We also had a very excited Jonathan Ross, presenting the Artist of the Year award to Sigur Ròs and we were thrilled to present Lovie Person of the Year to chef, restauranteur and activist Jamie Oliver.

A Peek Behind the Curtain

In partnership with Google, we went behind the scenes with this year's Lovie Winners to learn all about the hard work, dedication and passion that went into making their projects, from late nights to wireframes.

We’re so proud to showcase these stories in the brand-new site The Lovie Letters Presented by Google. From HelloRun and ASOS Google Helpouts to Badland, Lovie Winners represent the best of the European Web.

Watch our exclusive interview with Martin Sterling (Director, unit9) and Richard Beer (Creative Director, Don’t Panic London) explaining the processes used to make the Lovie-winning viral video, “The Most Shocking Second a Day.”

The Lovie Letters presented by Google: An Introduction

Most Shocking Second a Day Video: Syria was a middle-income country. Its children had mobile phones and Facebook accounts. Their life was much like ours. And then, suddenly, it wasn’t. To mark the three-year anniversary of the conflict in Syria, Save The Children wanted to literally bring home to viewers the tragedy of the country’s downfall and its impact on Syria’s children, millions of whom were torn from their homes and families. They wanted a viral video to help people understand that just because it’s not happening here, doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.
