ABOUT
I would tighten the repetition around “mech robots,” make the storytelling line more natural, and clarify what you mean by “light FUI.” I would also keep the more personal final paragraphs, as they give the piece some character.
While at the brilliant Territory Studio, I had the chance to contribute to Atlas, designing FUI layouts for a mech cockpit. The art direction was already established when I joined, combining curved forms, fine linework and dense micro detailing. My role was to create functional screen layouts that fitted this visual language and supported the film’s spectacular mech sequences.
The warm colours and light interface graphics gave the visuals a distinctive character compared with more traditional science fiction interfaces. Working alongside people at the top of their game forces you to level up quickly. You sit down, look at the screen and tell yourself, “This needs to be good.”
I also designed the interface for a futuristic coffee machine aboard an interstellar starship. It was not your average brief, but definitely one of the more enjoyable ones.
And, as always, it is cool to see your name in the end credits.
