About me
I am a 24 year-old Sound Designer who has recently moved to London from Auckland, NZ. For the past 3 years I have partially owned and run a recording studio in Otahuhu, NZ, whilst also working for a year in Amsterdam as a sound designer/composer/mix engineer. This was at AMBASSADORS, a creative production studio that did everything under one roof from Sound/Music to VFX, to colour grading. I left this position in 2016, as my visa in the Netherlands expired after one year and despite my Dutch heritage, could not be extended.
When I arrived back in NZ, I continued working with clients at my own studio, as well as freelancing in Auckland City as a Sound Designer/Mix Engineer. While freelancing at Franklin Rd Post, I worked on two Friday-night comedy shows for NZ national television, amongst other short films and music videos. At this time, I was also freelancing as a technical producer for RadioLIVE, producing talkback shows and the occasional station imaging job.
My goal is to work in a musical/noisy environment in the UK, while also studying audio/music implementation for Games/VR in my own time. This is an interest of mine and seems like a natural step from sound design for music videos and television. I am also shipping a bunch of my music equipment (synths, guitar pedals etc.) as I plan to continue writing and releasing my own music. My goal with my music is to create a unique fusion of music and sound design, while trying to have each mimic the other. I am fluent in both ProTools and Logic Pro and will pick up any audio editing software you may put in front of me with ease.
I would relish any opportunity to work in an environment that encourages creativity in music and sound, and will undertake any training you may provide with the utmost enthusiasm and genuine interest, as sound is truly the centre of my universe.
Thank you for your time,
Connor Duin.
