About me

I am writing to apply for the position of Proof-reader in your establishment. The prospect of undertaking this role appeals to me for a variety of reasons. Primarily, I believe I can be a valuable asset to Creativepool by using my knowledge of the industry to excel. Furthermore, I am aware that you can offer me the platform to showcase my proficiency.

Along with my first division honours degree in Broadcast Journalism, I have been fortunate enough to have worked as a proof-reader and sub-editor alongside an independent freelance company. This hands-on experience has helped me to obtain an insight into the real world of journalism. Whilst there, I was given the opportunity to shadow a professional journalist, director, producer and camera crew. In addition, I was able to successfully fulfil the duties of proofreading stories, gathering and researching information, meeting industry specialists and being involved in a wide range of projects. The social aspect of interacting with individuals of differing statuses and authorities attracted me most as I was able to exercise my communication skills to a high standard.

To date, my academic and industry experience has helped me to discover where my strengths lie. It has also allowed me to realise how powerful the media industry is and its importance to people and society as a whole. I am continuously building my ability to write journalistically to produce production level articles, features, blogs and newspapers. I am diverse and adaptable and am confident in public speaking, especially when enthusiastically conveying new ideas. I am also competent in the practical elements of using specialist computer software for designing magazine layouts and progressing in technical tasks.
