About me

Hi, I'm Steve, a multi-style 2D Animator & Illustrator going by the name of WOBBLYLOBSTER, creating bespoke visuals single-handedly from concept to completion.

I mainly create within the music industry with animated music videos, lyric vids, visualisers & online visuals.
This also includes still work like cover art, logos and content for social media.
I've worked with loads of musical acts, from upcoming artists to huge names.

Outside the music industry, I'm available for illustration, be it anything from childrens' books, to logo design, to editorial graphic design work.
Plus animated commercial and corporate projects, online visuals, in-product animation & documentary animation.
I very much enjoyed creating the graphics for the Netflix 10 part documentary 'I Am A Killer'.
Enjoying a creative variety, I'm never satified with only one aesthetic or technique so I can approach a whole range of styles. However I do have reoccuring areas like semi-realistic cartoon, character design, cut-out photo / collage animation, vector motion graphics, lip-syncing and typography.
For some reason reoccuring themes include faces, outer space, animals, moody people, cars, the inside of things, and social commentary. I also increasingly work with bold colours on dark backgrounds.

Be it amusing or emotional, fun, serious, dark or cool, I combine themes and storytelling with contemporary originality and engaging visuals. An assessibility with a twist.

I adore all things creative and an have interest in people, behaviour and emotional connection.
With my life mainly revolving around Art, Music, Film and Comedy.

I am energetic and quick-witted, with unique takes, problem solving skills and a strong instinct to what connects with an audience and the product, message or form of entertainment.

Working either from scratch, or with an initial brief or a set out concept, I have an intuitive, imaginative and highly considered approach to all projects.
Creative and open-minded, with a sharp analytical brain, I gather a full understanding of clients' aims
and an audience's response, resulting in videos that promote, emotionally engage, encourage attention, and deliver a desired message.

I have received features and premières including Clash, NME, Pitchfork and Hype Magazine.
TV broadcasts include Netflix, Sky, MTV and Adult Swim among others.

Award nominations and official selections include London International Animation Festival, Cannes Animation Day and Cannes In A Van.

Drawing and performing piano from an early age, I went through school with an interest in both in art and music. As I was socially performing in bands and composed songs on piano whist dabbling in guitar and drums, Art continued to develop in my education with A-Levels, a BTEC in Art & Design in Northampton
and a degree at Brighton University in Music & Visual Art.

Starting in little live performance videos for local and some national bands, I continued my development in film and animation and started making promo music videos.
15 years later and 60 official music videos to my name, I've mainly emersed myself in animation and continue to push my boundaries and successfully create pieces for very happy clients around the world.

My rates are extremely competative and I can develop projects around the avaliable budget to maximise the final product.
