About me
I am a young and ambitious creative with a degree in English and almost two years experience as Director of Marketing for a very small startup comedy production company, StraightUp Productions.
In this role I've had extensive, intensive experience planning campaigns and writing for numerous platforms across digital and print media. I've managed several social media accounts, designed posters, flyers, banners and vouchers and I've responded to differences in demographic within punishingly tight deadlines. I have strong instincts and am decisive with them, but have a keen understanding of how to negotiate those instincts with the needs of our clients (the venues housing our productions), the customer and our company brand. My numerous responsibilities as Director of Marketing demanded constant generation of new ideas and the ability to deliver a strong pitch to my colleagues when time was short. I believe my experience heading up marketing for a comedy company, where 'funny' means very different things to different people - thus demanding very different approaches - will help me jump in at the deep end and quickly adapt to working in a new environment.
While my time at StraightUp has given me valuable experience, within such a small company with such limited resources there was no time and little scope to grow as a creative. I'm looking forward to taking my self-taught skills and literary instincts and hone them within an exciting and challenging environment. The past 18 months have laid what I feel to be very sturdy foundations for an exciting and rewarding career in copywriting. The immediate future, I hope, is the first step.
Tucked away down at the bottom of my CV is the admission that I also write for fun. Serious plays and funny novellas. I love writing and take it very, very seriously indeed. I am a perfectionist in my work and recreation and find that one always informs the other in the most gloriously constructive way.
