Wiliam's work
About Wiliam
I am a graduate from the Loughborough University Design School. I am hardworking, reliable, trustworthy and able to work well within a team, and independently. I am able to take on board advice and realise that I am still developing what I have learnt during university. I have a passion for design and for products that are functional and have a genuine benefit for the end user in terms of usability and aesthetics. I have developed a broad range of design based skills from user research, sketching/hand rendering/communication and concept generation to CAD and prototyping and design for manufacture. Other design skills I have developed are creating logos, producing presentation boards and working with other forms of media, such as photography.
I have experience and confidence in using Adobe Photoshop and I have some experience of using Illustrator and Indesign, however I am keen to develop my skills and knowledge on Illustrator .I have experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Pro Engineer/ Creo, BunkSpeed Hypershot, Keyshot and Alias rendering software.
I have gained invaluable commercial awareness and experience during my placement year at Boots Head Office where I was a Packaging Technologist within the New Product Development and Innovation Team. This experience allowed me to apply skills learnt during university, whilst learning new skills and developing my knowledge of packaging design and development. I have experience of managing a number of design projects at a time. Whilst on placement at Boot Head Office, I produced 3D CAD, 2D renderings and hand renderings and concepts for No7, 17 and Soltan brand teams and other premium brands sold within Boots stores. These concepts included mascara graphics, mascara packaging and POS displays. I presented the work to the No7 and 17 brand teams. Concepts and renders included a design for a Sun lotion bottle, graphics and branding for a new range of No7 and 17 Mascaras and concept generation for a Mascara kit and in store display unit. Design briefs were provided, and on occasions, the brief was quite open. Some of the briefs asked to develop the graphics and branding of new mascaras but before creating the 3D Renders, I created persona boards and researched the target market and current fashion trends and styles in order to create a whole 'story' behind the mascara.
On a personal note, I am willing to undertake challenges and am able to work under pressure. Although being rather reserved, I have a healthy sense of humour and I'm able to interact with people on all levels.
