About me

I am a motivated and enthusiastic Interior Design Graduate with a BA achieved with First Class Honours and useful, transferable skills from previous work experience. The main modules studied include Space Planning, Professional Studies, Lighting, CAD, Design Projects and I have excellent hand and CAD illustration skills. I was one of eight students selected to exhibit at New Designers.

As additional design training I studied fashion for three years in Sydney, which gave me an excellent grounding in general design, a heightened awareness of colour, textiles and fabric pattern design. My original work experience was on fashion magazines, which led to interiors and my recent move to become a professional interior designer.

During my studies I worked as a freelance writer and stylist, contributing to leading titles such as Homes & Gardens, Homes & Antiques and BBC Good Homes. As you can guess I have a number of years experience in publishing (plus a six months stint in television) which has given me some top transferable skills that related directly to my new career. These include sound knowlege of products and fabrics, experience of marketing, management of both people and deadlines, great communication skills both written and verbal and experience of sales. I am proficient at MS Windows, Word IE, CAD, Autodesk Architectural and Photoshop. I believe my work experience is an asset but I am realistic about the fact I am looking for a graduate job.
