About me

I have worked for the Publisher Dorling Kindersley (Penguin Books) for over 15 years, both in the Adult and Childrens book teams.

As a Senior Art Editor I have been involved in every aspect of the design process, from initial presentation, to final design. Typically, my role would involve the generation of new book ideas, the development and design of presentation material including spreads and book jackets, and preparation for final print. This has resulted in the production of several award winning titles.

My involvement in the styling process has been very hands-on, with responsibility for prop-buying, styling, art directing photoshoots, and commissioning illustrators.

I have also been involved in the monitoring of design costs and timescales, and liaising with editorial and production staff in setting production schedules. I have experience in the delegation of work to design assistants and the supervision of freelance designers.

I enjoy working under pressure and on my own initiative, and am experienced in working on several projects at a time to tight deadlines and on visually varied material.
