About me
I am a Multichannel Graphic Designer who worked for a company called Spicers ltd for about Nine month. A Stationary Company that design Catalogue's and Promotional work for companies over the UK and Europe. I
have gained knowledge of work load and how to produce a good standard of design work to be used for there promotions and Catalogue design I also gained a good understand of how to produce page designs also added QuarkXPress to my design skills which I work well with few out my time there. I know feel that a can take on a
new challenge and to progress my skills as a designer.
I also did a BA Hons Graphic Design at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. Throughout my time there I gained knowledge and experience of the processes of design, such as cultural and contemporary issues, how to produce a concept for design production and an in depth knowledge of layout and typography. For my Final Major Project I created a magazine based on the cities of Italy. The issue I created focused on Rome. The magazine was aimed at
18-30 year olds with the purpose of enticing them to visit the area by providing them with a range of valuable information. To appeal to a younger audience I attempted to make the layout look lively by manipulating photographs I had taken myself and used different typefaces on each page to give each topic a distinct feel. For the layout I selected a four-column grid because of its practical uses in a magazine.
During my final year I also had the opportunity to work with a client. This involved creating a corporate identity for Cambridgeshire County Council's community based arts project, Vital Communities. I became involved after my design for their logo was selected from twenty other designs, which had been produced by the other members of my course, by members of the public and council members. This logo has been used on newsletters, invitations, badges, fliers, letterheads, compliment slips and other such items This opportunity allowed me to experience the different aspects required in producing work for a client. For instance I gained an insight in how an idea moves from artwork to print and good practice in communicating with a client.
I have work with other clients as well doing freelance work. Designing posters and fliers for a nightclub called residence and also design for a Gift Cards, which were used for the local shopping centre. Also cd covers for a
band, which was printed and sold across Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.
I have an in depth knowledge and understanding of InDesign, PhotoShop and Illustrator and QuarkXPress frequently use them in my design work. I have an interest in photography and enjoy bringing this into my designs. I feel that I have very good time management and teamwork skills, as I have been able to meet the deadlines that have been set for me both by the university client and work, whether this was independently or as a team. I would be able to bring my enthusiasm and passion for graphic design to your company. I take pleasure in all aspects of art and design and would relish the opportunity to work with your design company. I look forward to hearing from you,
