About me
I'm Andrew Warwick, an art director and motion designer based in Derbyshire, working remotely with clients worldwide. I've been at this for 25 years, and in that time I've worked across most corners of the craft — creative direction, branding, motion and animation, illustration, film, editorial and web — for clients including The Guardian, The New York Times, the BBC, Channel 4, Adidas, VICE, Bloomsbury, Jaguar, PlayStation and Prada.
The thread through all of it is ideas. I treat them a bit like opponents — something to wrestle with, circle and test until what's left is clear, distinctive and does the job. I care as much about the craft as the concept: the typography, the timing, the small details that make a piece feel considered rather than just finished.
My work has been part of Oscar- and BAFTA-winning projects with The Guardian's Special Projects team, and I've been voted into The Drum's Top 10 UK independent creatives by the clients I've worked for. But mostly I like taking something complex or technical and making it land — whether that's a brand identity, a 40-minute documentary, an editorial illustration, a data-driven report or a piece of motion.
Give me a brief and a reference, and I'll find the right approach for it rather than bending every job to fit one house style.
