I consider myself to have a strong technical knowledge and artistic background. I love what Lighting brings to storytelling and how it evokes emotion and supports the narrative. I also love the limitations and challenges CG brings on a daily basis. Finding a solution to a problem or a creative way to get a better result is extremely rewarding. As a lighting artist, understanding why and where to place a light is very important. Knowing the rules for creating the illusion of shape, evoking an emotional response and creating visual interest in a composition are key to creating appealing content.

Technical Skills :

Good understanding of CG lighting technology, both real-time and software rendering.

Good understanding of Global and Local lighting technology.

Expert understanding of physically based rendering for VFX.

Strong sense of lighting and color theory, color space, exposure, reflections etc.

Good knowledge in placement of special effects related to lighting and atmosphere, such as light flares, fog, god rays.

Good understanding of digital photography principles.

Working knowledge of Maya and 3DS Max.

Post processing knowledge of color grading, exposure, bloom, tone mapping curves etc.

Good understanding of composition in Nuke.

Skilled at balancing visual quality against performance requirements.
