About me
Dear Sirs,
I am writing to apply for the 3D Generalist vacancy that was advertised on Creativepool. Please find attached my CV and link to my portfolio.
I first became interested in the world of 3D when I decided to change my course at university from 'Stop-Motion Animation and Puppet Making' to 'Computer Games Design', because I felt that the latter would provide a bigger challenge. Ever since then I have been learning the skills that I needed to create 3D animations, even when it was not a part of my course; for example I taught myself how to use Autodesk Maya when the lecturers taught us 3DS Max. I also taught myself how to create rigs in Maya during my final year so that I could use my own models in my final animation. I am always striving to improve my skills, not just in 3D but also more traditional art skills such as drawing, and will constantly keep practicing because there is always room for improvement.
I believe that I am a suitable candidate for this role because I am confident in my ability to work on any aspect of the 3D pipeline, from modelling to animation. I know that if I am unable to complete a task I will use my own time to learn the skills needed to complete the job to the best of my ability. Looking at your portfolio I find it exciting that you cover such a wide range of topics and I would love to be able to enhance my skills and knowledge that I learnt at university by working with you.
Having looked at the average salary for a 3D generalist I have found that it is around £25,000, however, due to having just graduated from university I would expect something within the region of £19,000 - £22,000 would be more appropriate. I am flexible with my expectations and would welcome the opportunity to discuss this further should I be successful with my application.
