About Venie Tee
Since 2006, the designer's dedication to modern independent beauty is introduced in each of her creation, illustrating a new genre of femininity. The venietee design is confident, intelligent and independent with a touch of quirkiness.
Graduated from Central Saint Martins College in London in Fine Arts (UAL), the emerging Kuala Lumpur based fashion designer Venie Tee did not know that fashion is actually her true calling before that. Upon returning to her homeland, Malaysia as a freshly graduated fine artist who already have sold some of her art pieces in Britain, she was so intrigued by the myth of fashion that she decided to follow her heart to pursuing a fashion design course at one of the fashion schools in Kuala Lumpur, Raffles College of Higher Education (formerly known as Raffles Design Institute). After completing the course, she participated in the Young Designer Competition organised by Malaysia International Fashion Alliance (MIFA) in 2005 and has won Most Promising Young Designer award and Best Casual wear award, and since then, has made her name in the fashion industry in Malaysia.
Prior to introducing her eponymous label, Venie Tee, Venie was working for one of the local fashion retailers in Malaysia who carries brands such as Mango and Ladylike. The label Venie Tee speaks of a devastatingly soft sophistication vibe, which is a personal translation of what she likes - twisted elegance with a touch of playful femininity. Having an obsession with beading and embroideries, she has made that her personal design statement, which has brought her a growing clientele who appreciates her aesthetics.
Launched 2006 in Isetan KLCC, her pret-a-porter line, Venie Tee offers her regular clients a selection of styles, from beautifully crafted dresses to sleek chic jackets, at affordable prices. In 2013, VenieTee Homme (menswear) is introduced during the launched of Elegantology Gallery, a new fashion & gastronomy hotspot in Kuala Lumpur, patronage by Martell V.S.O.P, one of the oldest cognac.
In 2016, Venie decided to take a short break from the fashion industry to further her Master Degree in Illustration with Academy of Art University in San Francisco, while going back to her drawing and painting roots, she continues inspire and being inspired.
Venie has just finished her Master Degree in Illustration at the Academy of Art University San Francisco in December 2018. As an artist specializing in fashion, she merges the two loves to create unique and striking images. Her current focus is on traditional hand drawings and paintings using a mixed medium of pencils, inks, watercolour, gouaches and digital painting.
Her clients include Martell V.S.O.P, Schwan-STABILO, and Tourism Malaysia.
