About me

Ubah has over the years moonlighted as a freelance photographer, a tutor, a retail manager, and currently an accounts assistant. With different skills curated in each field, it has affirmed her passion - to navigate the intricacies of the rapidly-growing digital and creative space. Ubah is also incredibly interested in photo-journalism and journalism in general as as she is an avid reader and writes about important issues worldwide and one's close to her heart. The integrated nature of photography and journalism has also piqued her interest as using her voice to discuss taboos, media bias, and injustices faced that aren't publicised half as much. Photography is important as it conveys what words cannot describe.
Although known for flourishing in fast-paced and constantly changing environments, she is multi-faceted and adaptable enough to also enjoy more repetitive tasks such as data entry and detail-oriented tasks. Modules such as 'Econometrics', 'Financial econometrics', and 'Economic History' have led to interests in careers such as data analysis, international relations and working within government/policy-making.
She is a determined, altruistic, and intuitive 'go-getter', a fact lover, and a naturally inquisitive soul. She is a people person and enjoys the fact that each individual is unique, mind and body - this translates positively from personality into her roles. It is an incredibly meaningful characteristic and also an asset in customer service and innovation/marketing as consumerism plays an important factor.
Thinking from the perspective of others has aided her in her current degree and in her past careers. In her second year, Ubah represented her fellow classmates as a course representative which developed her confidence and leadership skills. Moreover, alongside her sister, Ubah co-founded 'Change for Youth' which focuses on giving young children within our community a safe space whilst providing stimulating and impactful activities.
Her final year dissertation on 'The Determinants of Job Satisfaction' included using software i.e. STATA to observe the responsiveness of workers with data retrieved to prove hypotheses whereby increases in incentives such as (holidays, flexibility in working environments, mental and physical health) lead to a rise in productivity and efficiency at work and the multiplier effect which it produces. This further sparked an interest within the field of data analysis along with how empirical evidence is used to interpret the current world issues.
Using statistics to disprove and debunk ignorant or baseless rhetoric/theories relating to disparities, i.e., race, income, and gender - in order to effectively create awareness to :. stimulate positive change - is her forever goal.
