About me

I like to tell people that I didn't choose a career in car design, it chose me!

When I was a child, my parents and teachers were concerned that I had ADHD. At times it was very difficult for me to focus on my schoolwork, my attention span was short. Everything changed when I discovered my love for cars. I thought constantly about growing up to be a truck driver, car salesman, car mechanic.

At the time I was growing up in China cars were not popular so the thought of drawing cars or designing cars didn't even occur to me. My thinking was much more basic, I wanted to do anything that involved working with or around cars.

Because of this passion, I struggled under the background of traditional Chinese education. I didn't gravitate towards completing math problems or memorizing textbooks, but I could remember every car magazine I was able to get my hands on. I was so obsessed with cars when I was 10-years old my parents consulted me when they decided to buy a car. (We bought a 2008 Volvo S40)

I was fortunate when I was 12-years old that my mother asked me; "Why don't you design cars

In 2018 I completed an Advanced Design Internship at GAC R&D. It was an amazing experience and my first exposure to a professional organization. Everything about the experience confirmed that I had selected a profession that I am passionate about.

I believe in the sustainable travel concepts that are now being developed. I understand that this is just the start of a process and that transportation design will go through significant changes. In my six years at Coventry, I have focused on learning how these changes could impact how we travel but at the same time not forgetting that the aesthetics of the car remain important. I am always looking for the ultimate beauty in car design

If you love something for more than ten years, it will eventually become your belief. I have loved cars for twenty years and I will continue to love them.

I hope my work can ultimately inspire other children to follow their passion.
