About me
As a recent Graphic Design graduate from Nottingham Trent University, I am eager and excited to begin my career and further my learning. I would love the opportunity to be able to do so as a part of an innovative and refreshing company.
Alongside my studies at university I was lucky enough to combine my two main passions; snowboarding and design. I was elected as the Graphic Designer for Nottingham Trent Snowsports Society. My role for this required me to not only design the club merchandise and promotional material but also had me working together with sponsors and product manufacturers. This has given me a better insight into the importance of meeting deadlines and working to a client's specific needs.
My strong work ethic would compliment any company, both within a team and when working individually. I like to steer my designs away from the obvious; to keep an audience engaged whilst providing a solution to a brief that is both concise and original. This is evident within my work for the Chapel Place Gin Bar, Tunbridge Wells. I worked in collaboration with the owner and bar staff where I was able to create a series of typographic compositions promoting the drinks specials and seating arrangements, avoiding the predictable style of pub chalkboard designs. Understanding the importance of answering a brief allowed me to gain a real insight of what the client was looking for, with the overall outcome being unique to the bar.
During my time of study at university I have been able to develop both my social and professional skills. I am competent in different areas of design with the ability of choosing the right solution for the project set. I am experienced with the Adobe Creative Suite, however this has not led me neglect the hand made and physical side of design. Whilst I find that digital artwork creates a clean and sleek finish, I am also able to recognise the personal quality that handmade graphics can achieve. I believe that every idea should start on paper as this gives work character but also the designer a better understanding of a project and a wider visual toolkit.
If given the opportunity, I know that I could make a valuable and impactful contribution among any creative team.
