About me
I am a recent graduate from Leeds Trinity University with a (BJTC Accredited) degree in Broadcast Journalism, a course that focuses on creating and editing content for broadcast, via online, social media, TV and Radio. I have worked for a number of companies that look to create for a target audience. For example, when posting on social media for Radio Aire, and writing and editing online news articles, sound bites, videos and bulletins for Radio Yorkshire (now Proper Sport), I had to stay in a specific tone of voice set by the stations, in order to provide the best quality content for what was desired.
During my work for BBC and in the newsroom at Yorkshire Voice I gained experience in working across functions to gain the best results for the brand. In last year's golf coverage for BBC in Media City, I had to work alongside several different people focusing on different aspects of the show in order to make it run smoothly, and to insure that my job as the studio floor's sound assistant was completed successfully each day. Whilst in the newsroom writing for Yorkshire Voice, I also worked alongside designers and photographers to post the best possible content for the website.
When working on the social media and nightly news broadcasts for Yorkshire Voice, I learnt how to efficiently edit on systems such as Premiere Pro to produce content for different formats, with most posts being recycled for the programme, and vice versa. Whilst working for Yorkshire Voice, i was also running and creating content for a music news website I created called Day & Age Music, and working as a cameraman and producer on a now RTS Student award nominated short documentary called 'The Swinging Life Of Rochdale'. This is my second nomination, following my input in the editing of a short form news segment about the Tour De Yorkshire the year before.
I am an enthusiastic, hard working person, and I would relish the opportunity to prove to you my worth. I have a willingness to learn and further my understanding in this sector, and I hope to be hearing positive news from someone in the team soon.
Below is a link to my LinkedIn page which can hopefully provide you with more examples of my work, including a basic showreel and an online portfolio.
Yours faithfully,
Thomas Rogers
