About me

For the last five years I have been involved in print journalism, and have been building skills and experience.

I was Music Editor of the Leeds Student in my final year at University.

I have been the Leeds correspondent at the NME since 2003. I have been a frequent contributor and have written the NME's Student Guide to Leeds for the last two years. I was fortunate to make this connection by organising my own work experience placement with the NME. This gave me an insight into how the magazine is produced, and provided me with a valuable network of contacts.

I also have been a regular contributor to Sandman Leeds for the last three years. After two years I became Deputy Editor. When I finished my studies I was asked to become editor of Sandman Leeds. This opportunity has enabled me to take responsibility for an entire magazine; its content, its style, its financial viability and its editorial policy. These roles required me to develop a high level of organisational skill and flexibility.

Running a magazine single-handed has demanded that I become a highly proficient user of IT. My skills are particularly to do with the manipulation of text, but I am also a capable user of Quark.

For the last few seven I have been Music editor of Leeds Guide magazine, and recently got given the job of Bars editor as well. My contributions have included reviews, previews, interviews and large multi-page features
