Cheil London

Cheil has appointed Peter Zillig, a former Chief Executive of Havas Worldwide New York, as CEO of its London office. His appointment follows the resignation of Paul Hammersley, the chief executive of Cheil UK, in October 2016. Zillig, who will report to the chief executive of Cheil Europe Kevin Park, will take responsibility for the Cheil London office. BMB, under chief executive Juliet Haygarth, will operate as a separate entity within Cheil UK with Haygarth also reporting into Park. Zillig has extensive experience both client and agency side. He is a former EMEA head of advertising, UK communications director and marketing and communications director for e-commerce for Compaq, working in Munich, London and Houston. As well as working at Havas Worldwide, where he rose from president of global brands to CEO of the New York office, Zillig is a former EMEA chief executive of Tag Worldwide, where he led its digital transformation, and has also worked at Lowe Worldwide as global business director.
TMW Unlimited

Alex Burley has been promoted to managing director of TMW Unlimited, as part of a restructure designed to strengthen its senior account management team. Burley, who has worked at the agency for fifteen years, was previously managing partner, having also held the roles of client services director and business director. He now becomes a member of the executive board. Emma Norman has also been promoted to client services director from group business director. Having been with the agency over 7 years, Norman has led the Sony Mobile, Unilever and Virgin Trains accounts and was integral to the Cannes Lions-winning Bigger Issues campaign for Lynx and CALM as well as the recent Ferrero pitch win. Norman will join the management board. Emma Lester and Michael Wells have both been promoted to business director from their previous roles of group account directors. Lester, who was previously at Proximity London, will be leading the Sony Mobile and Virgin Trains accounts. Wells, who led the #TurnOffToTurnOn campaign for Durex will be leading the Canon, Vodafone, HSBC and Diageo accounts. In addition to this, TMW Unlimited has appointed Alastair McLeod, also as business director, to lead its automotive accounts: Nissan and its luxury car brand Infiniti. McLeod joins the agency from Rapier, having previously worked at OgilvyOne and Partners Andrews Aldridge.

POSSIBLE

Building on the current momentum and on the recently announced hires, digital creative agency POSSIBLE has made another raft of creative additions and promotions to support new business growth and the creative evolution of the agency. Ben Bashford is appointed as the new Head of User Experience. During his 20-year career, Ben counts himself lucky to have worked with some of the largest companies in the world, the smallest startups, and everything in between. He joins following a 5-year stint of contracting, when he served as the Chief Design Officer for the Boiler Room and after working on projects for the likes of Android, Google and Method. As part of his new team, Ilse Christiansen and Jules Spanou have also both been hired as new UX Designers, working primarily on the Specsavers account. Liam Thomas also joins the design team as a visual designer to work across a mix of different clients. Ilse has moved from Razorfish where she has spent the last 9 months designing the eCommerce user experience for global optical retailer, Grand Vision. Prior to which she worked in a similar role at Code and Theory, for clients such as Savoir F20lair and Man City. Jules started as a Project Assistant at Domus Academy in Milan subsequently moving to London where she started working at startups as a UX designer at the post accelerator IDEALondon held by Cisco, DC Thompson and UCL. She then moved on to Net-a-Porter where she was a UX designer before joining the POSSIBLE team. Liam is a promising young talent who joins from digital shop 360i. Relatively new to the industry, he’s already made a splash, after being awarded a D&AD New blood Pencil and making the UK Young Lions shortlist at the 2016 show.
Saatchi & Saatchi London

Saatchi & Saatchi London has poached CHI’s Danny Josephs as its new Chief Operating Officer. Josephs will assume responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the business, managing the agency’s continuing growth, and will also oversee a number of Saatchi & Saatchi’s key accounts. A major focus will be on driving collaborative solutions for clients, and in particular, on bringing creative, media and technology together on integrated accounts. Josephs joins from Pulse Creative, the WPP-backed News UK in-house creative agency, where he was managing director. Before that, he was managing director at WPP Team News and responsible for leading WPP’s ‘horizontal’ team of agencies Grey, Wunderman, Mindshare and The Box. Josephs originally joined CHI & Partners as its first ‘suit’ in 2002 as an equity partner before becoming new business director and head of account management, working with clients including Argos, Carphone Warehouse, RBS, Toyota and Heineken. Before CHI, Josephs worked at Ogilvy, Simons Palmer Clemmow Johnson and Bates Dorland. Josephs will report to Magnus Djaba, the UK CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi Fallon and joins the senior executive team at the agency. He replaces Katrien De Bauw.
BETC London

BETC London has announced the appointment of Andrew Kay as their new Managing Director. He will join Executive Creative Director Rosie Bardales and newly appointed Chief Strategy Officer Russell Davies to complete BETC London’s management team. The trio will be equal partners. Kay brings over 16 years experience at some of Europe’s best agencies, from Wieden+Kennedy London and Amsterdam, to BBH, GREY London and CDP, where he worked with brands such as Coca-Cola, Nike, ESPN, P&G, EA Games, Lurpak, Vodafone, Barclays and Honda. Kay joins BETC London from Wieden+Kennedy London, where he was Head of Account Management, responsible for the resourcing, development, training and performance of the agency’s account handling department. He also led the Lurpak account and the Mondelez business, itself a combination of UK, North American and Global brands. Kay will work with all BETC London brand partners, including Cow & Gate, GANT, KADO, Air France and Coty, and focus on growing the agency’s business and talent. Andrew Kay and Russell Davies will join BETC London in January 2017.
Peterson Milla Hooks

Independent and retail-specialty agency Peterson Milla Hooks has welcomed Lauren Buckley as its first Director of Strategy. Buckley will serve as a member of the agency’s leadership team, and will play a key role in current client and new business development. She will also have oversight of strategic platforms across all accounts. Buckley joins from mono, where she was a Strategic Planning Director working on Propel, The North Face and Children’s Hospitals of Minnesota, along with being an integral part of their new business efforts including SunChips and Vera Bradley. Buckley started her career as a copywriter at FCB in Chicago, where she worked on many of the S.C. Johnson family of brands, in addition to Kmart and Valspar. After five years in the Windy City, she returned to Minneapolis to write for Olson, working on Target, kidrobot and Kraftmaid. There, she made the transition to Brand Strategist while working on Aurora Healthcare, Target and University of Minnesota.
TBWA\Chiat\Day New York

Chris Garbutt, Global Creative President of TBWA\Worldwide and Chief Creative Officer of TBWA\Chiat\Day New York, has announced that the agency has hired Wade Alger as Executive Creative Director. Alger, an eight-year veteran of The Martin Agency (and one of the creative leads behind its award-winning work for GEICO) will bring his talents to TBWA in early December, working alongside ECD and Global Head of Art Erik Vervroegen. Alger will report directly to Garbutt. Alger joins TBWA\Chiat\Day New York following an 18-month run of new business wins, and a significant investment in talent, including Vervroegen, who rejoined the agency in August; Nancy Reyes, appointed Managing Director in April; Trish Schmitt and Ted Guidotti, who joined as Global Creative Directors in February. Alger comes to TBWA\Chiat\Day from The Martin Agency, where he spent his eight-plus years working on the agency’s flagship GEICO account, helping to move it from traditional to digital and integrated and to #2 overall in the car insurance category. He is credited with creating and leading some of the brand’s most iconic and award-winning work, including 2015’s innovative “Unskippable” pre-roll campaign that took home the Film Grand Prix in Cannes.
VCCP Berlin

The international agency network VCCP has bolstered its key German agency with a new management line-up. Carsten Fillinger and Wiebke Dreyer will lead the 55-person, Berlin-based agency alongside existing MD Robin Karakash. Carsten Fillinger joins the agency as Chief Creative Officer. The 44-year-old was previously Executive Creative Director and a member of the management team at Scholz & Friends in Berlin, working on clients including Innogy, Montblanc and DKV. Fillinger was also instrumental in the development of the Content Unit at Scholz & Friends and is highly regarded as a creative leader with a strong integrated perspective. Strategy Director Wiebke Dreyer, meanwhile, joined VCCP Berlin in 2009, leading the brand and communication strategy for clients such as BMW Motorrad, mobile.de and ING-DiBa.
Droga5 New York

Droga5 New York has announced seven new hires in the agency’s growing Creative Department. Jillian Goger, Matt Swinburne, Jake Shaw, Ash Tavassoli, Ray Smiling and Ryan Raab have recently joined the agency as Creative Directors, and Michael Kleinman joins as Design Director. Jillian Goger (pictured above) joins Droga5 from McCann Erickson, where she spent nine years working on brands such as Dentyne Gum, MasterCard, Verizon and the New York Lottery, among others. Matt Swinburne also joins Droga5 from McCann Erickson, after 18 months of working on Verizon, USPS and the New York Lottery. Before McCann Erickson, Swinburne had brief stints in London, at Mother and Saatchi & Saatchi, and in New York, at Silver & Partners. Jake Shaw is a Creative Director with global experience, having worked in the UK, Germany and the US. Prior to joining Droga5, Shaw worked at BBDO Germany and New York. At Droga5, he is currently working on Chase. Ash Tavassoli is a Creative Director at Droga5 currently working on Chase alongside Jake Shaw. Tavassoli joins the agency after working at BBDO New York for four years on brands that include Visa, GE, Campbell's and M&M’s Chocolates. Ray Smiling joins Droga5 as a Creative Director on Under Armour after spending a year at 72andSunny working on Adidas’ global campaigns across football, American football and basketball. Ryan Raab re-joins Droga5 after spending just over a year at BBDO New York, where he served as Creative Director on Foot Locker and Priceline. Michael Kleinman, finally, was a Design Director at AnalogFolk for over a year before coming to Droga5 New York. Kleinman previously worked at Droga5 Sydney as a Design Director and M&C Saatchi as a Digital Design Director.
