About me

Senior Retoucher with 20+ years experience at the top level of the industry.

I have worked with the world's leading photographers, agencies, galleries, magazines, and brands to produce high-end imagery for commercial sale, advertising, publication, and exhibition.

I have a particular focus on retouching and grading for fine art, but my retouching experience and capabilities encompass all types.

Way back in the late 90's I left school and started working as a C-41 processor and c-type contact printer at LTI in London, where I was trained by Jeremy Ramsden and Cosimo d'Aprano.

Pretty soon after that I moved over to BDi and did a two year apprenticeship under the esteemed Brian Dowling, where I would make on average of 500 contact prints every day and began doing enlargement prints.

At both these labs I was fortunate to work with the absolute cream of the world's fashion photographers, and developed a keen eye for colour and an appreciation for the more technical side of printing and post-production.

I transitioned into digital when I joined Goldenshot in 2001, and within a year I was made the Head of Digital Print (at a mere 21 years of age). This was were I honed my Photoshop skills, mainly working with YBA's to produce exhibition prints.

I took a few years out to get a degree, and ended up working as a teacher/Head of Department in a 6th form college for a couple of years.

I returned to post-production with a brief stint at The Printspace in London before joining the team at the world leading Metro Imaging as a Master Printer/Retoucher. I was at Metro for five great years and worked on a wide array of amazing projects, everything from advertising and fashion through to major national exhibitions. I also mastered inkjet and direct to media printing whilst at Metro, one of only two staff who worked across all media (and the only one who did high-level retouching).

I also have strong ecommerce experience through being the Senior Retoucher at Pro:Direct Sport. Here I have oversaw the entire technical development of the £100m retailer's retouching workflow from the ground up, including developing custom software to automate their Photoshop processes and increase productivity twofold.
