About me
Mr Barnett,
I'm applying for the role ofJunior Designer/Artworker for RDP Creative, which I found on Creative Pool.
I'm a graduating illustration student at Cambridge School of Art, and I'm looking for that first major graduate job where I can really flex my creative muscles and test myself. Whilst the average illustrator will work on a freelance basis, I find my best ideas emerge in a group environment filled with varied creatives, and I excel at helping others to improve upon their own concepts. I also believe that in a group environment, working with more established visual designers could bring out the best in me, as I learn new skills and working methods quickly, and apply them intelligently.
Having worked at Vue for the past ten months, I have had experience with some aspects of movie marketing, and find it fascinating. I'd love to improve upon this, and based on your job description, RDP sounds ideal. I'm a fan of intelligent marketing, and I think I could help come up with interesting, intelligent ideas and artwork for your products.
I find that while I produce interesting artwork, it's the ideas stage where I really shine. Having to come up with a concept that's simple, elegant and perfect for the purpose for which it's needed is a fascinating process, and one I'm increasingly adept at, and hope to experience further. Taking the artwork through to something beautiful and purposeful is just the icing on the cake. I'd love to help bring fresh ideas to the table, and help you to provide excellent work for a variety of purposes. I'm used to preparing work for both print and digital platforms, and would love to see it taken even further into the realm of movie marketing.
Having worked on a voluntary basis with CBAle for the Best Beer student competition (which won the British heat of the competition, and is currently in the international stage, having received great feedback on the packaging design), creating a product design aimed at tapping a non-traditional market - ale for young women, I feel I would enjoy and excel in a branding environment. I'd love to expand on this to add marketing work, and really interact with brands to create the whole packaging, from front-line media all the way through to the packaging that makes the client's product the one the end consumer really appreciates.
More than anything, I love to learn, and employ a highly experimental approach both digitally (I'm skilled in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, and have experience with the bulk of Adobe CS5) and with traditional media, which invariable features in my work, whether finished on the computer or not.
I have a portfolio of illustration work available at
*, and I hope you'll see how my design strengths could easily translate across multiple media.
Thank you for your consideration.
Tim Parker
