Dear Hiring Manager,
I was enormously interested to read your advertisement for Digital Copywriter which I found advertised on creativepool as it absolutely fulfils my career plans and interests.
Copywriting interests me greatly; I desire a career that can utilise my two university degrees and my ever-expanding passion for writing. I want to be continuously challenged and be able to exercise my adaptable, distinctive styles, vast vocabulary and rigorous proofreading, whilst applying the insight of others to my own work.
Since graduating from my MA in Creative Writing, I have been working full-time as an English Literacy Tutor in a London school, supporting low-ability and under-achieving students to reach (and smash) their GCSE and A Level predicted grades. Although I immensely enjoy my current job and find it highly rewarding, it fails to fully satisfy me. I love to craft, to capture. Despite reading and writing daily, I miss regularly meeting deadlines, being personally challenged and pushed to develop myself; I want a job where I can pursue my passion and better my ability as a writer.
All my previous work experiences and volunteer work, which have been varied in their roles and from each other, have required me to work as part of a team and independently, to use my initiative and to be resourceful. I have found my work as a Literacy Tutor has enabled me to broaden my creativity, sharpen my grammar and perfect my proofreading. As well as helping students conceptualise, craft and edit their work, I also teach them the necessary tools to be successful writers. This role has also strengthened my organisational skills as I have a variety of duties, including resource making, marking, and admin.
My MA in Creative Writing also allowed me to further develop my skills, including diversifying my vocabulary, varying my voice and style of writing, and refining my editing—I not only thoroughly proofread my own work but my classmates' too. Throughout the course, I applied my tutors' advice and used my initiative when crafting and editing work and I exhibited extreme self-motivation as I worked for lengthy shifts. I believe all these skills are essential for a great copywriter.
I will be available for interview at any time; please find enclosed my CV for your consideration. Thank you very much for your time and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours sincerely,
Thomas Luck
