Don't let the Canada location scare you off! Just like any other job hunter I am only required to give two weeks notice.
I have dual Canadian/Irish citizenship, I am legally entitled to live and work in the UK or EU, and I am NOT expecting my prospective employer to pay to relocate me, as I am moving to join family.
A summary of my key qualifications include:
- Extensive experience in layout and design of marketing materials to meet a variety of promotional needs in both print and digital media. This requires a strong sense of branding, layout and typography.
- Expert level knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator as well as extensive use of PowerPoint and a strong knowledge of MS Word.
- Exceptional time management skills, an eye for detail and accuracy, and a world-class juggler!
- Mentoring junior designers to help them learn core design skills and develop their knowledge of the programs used.
This past year has seen the addition of an exciting new project for me of adapting brand standards to create attractive, distinctly unique looks within each of five new 'territories' of private label packaging. This requires working closely with buyers, management and overseas manufacturers to ensure accurate delivery of each product line.
As a member of the marketing production team, my duties include the design and layout of the weekly flyers and catalogues. This work requires fast, efficient work habits and a thorough knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite. This role has expanded to include creating web banners and social media postings to enhance the visibility of products for these weekly focused flyers. I am also the lead designer for the London Drugs sister companies, CustomWorks and TLD which provide IT support and solutions, and custom AV/IT installations. This work involves creating attractive communications for both in-house use and sales pieces for prospective customers.
Prior to this, I was the designer for a local fitness book publisher. The position required creative thinking to produce new layout ideas and concepts and to work closely with the owner to contribute ideas and design artwork to projects as required. A strong knowledge of typography and book layout was key to this position. I was required to keep abreast of emerging technologies in new media, particularly design programs such as InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop as this company transitioned from Quark to InDesign at my suggestion.
