Hello all
My name is Theo van Rooyen, I'm a surface pattern/textile designer based in Cape Town, South Africa. I would describe my style and design aesthetic as limitless. I don't have a specific style that I stick to, my designs tend to be a bit more detailed than simplistic. I do like to challenge myself which is why I prefer a bit more challenging detailed designs.
I have been working in corporate advertising (in fashion retail) for close to a decade now, however I have always had a love for textiles and have been exploring this passion outside of work for some time now. I feel that it's time to take the leap and pursue this full-time. I am open to freelance opportunities, but Ideally I'd prefer having an in-house position where I can solely focus on creating repeat patterns.
Interests:
As a creative, I need to create in order to be happy. I enjoy painting and photography in my free time. I'm an avid collector of antique furniture. Socially, I enjoy being with the people I love, whether it be hosting a relaxed dinner at home or having a lazy beach day.

Prejudice, proud, critical, eccentric and stubborn.
General Description:
I'm pragmatic and down-to-earth, motivated to work hard, and have no respect for lazy or careless people. Although I can be easily trusted and find it easy to put trust in others, I am not dependent on friends and family and would rather find an answer or a solution myself than ask them for help or guidance. Although in the workplace I bounce ideas around freely and appreciate creative input at any given time, the people in my life, whether work-related or family-related, can rely on me because I'm always honest and meticulous about my responsibilities. While I don't feel the need for many distant or acquaintance-oriented friendships, I do value the strong bonds I share with my partners and family, and I make close friends that last a lifetime. Though I can be quite open-minded, once I've made a decision about something, I rarely change it. This is a defining characteristic that can be seen as obstinacy, but it is actually the way I have learned to be strong, brave, and straightforward.
