"As our railroad comes to the end of the line, so sleepers are tombstones and sea sand her grave."
Our rail system is falling into disrepair and is at an almost standstill –commuters are often left high and dry. I shudder to think that someday this stretch of railway track may be abandoned entirely.
I drive by this railway line almost daily; I've learned every twist and turn as she meanders along the seashore. My challenge is photographing this railroad as if seeing it for the first time; I want to rediscover the nuances – and photograph the 'ordinary' and make it 'extraordinary' to my viewers!
I wish to bring about an awareness of the potential loss to our city! I have 22 limited-edition Silver-Gelatin handprints exhibited in Milan, Italy. However, I'm constantly shooting additional studies –a pictorial memorial is in the making.
PS: "MAKING LIGHT WORK" – is an in-house video portraying how close the tracks hug our picturesque coastline.
