ABOUT
The project involved collaborating with Imagination London and Ford Europe to create key vehicle reveal animations for the launch of the all-new, all-electric Ford Explorer. The concept centered around showing the vehicle building up around world explorer, Lexie Alford, within a longer keynote presentation. This required integrating the animations seamlessly into the wider narrative and aesthetics of the presentation. This included using the same Unreal Environment, working with Nick on capturing live action, and collaborating with Nick, Imagination, and Ford on the design of the vehicle build up.
To execute the project, several distinct aspects were addressed, including prepping the vehicle, refining the Unreal environment for 4k animation outputs, and planning the live-action shoot. A unique approach was developed for creating Full CGI running footage, involving combining multiple pipelines and utilising artists with different software skills in different locations. Post-production involved further splitting the work into different pipelines, with intense attention to detail and collaboration required to maintain consistency across all elements.
Despite the tight timeline and budget, the collaborative effort with Director Nick Pipe, Imagination, and teams across Europe and the Americas ensured the project came together on schedule. After the launch, an environmental cinematic was also created to showcase the beauty of the landscape, demonstrating the team's ability to engage clients in different ways with existing assets.
Overall, the project followed a meticulous creative and technical process, allowing for rapid development and modification of assets while delivering high-quality results without sacrificing flexibility or client needs. This unique approach seamlessly integrated live-action and CGI to create a visually pleasing animation for the vehicle reveal.
