To Whom it May Concern:

My name is Tarini Pathak and I would very much like to be the new Project Manager and I think I would be ideal for this position.

Currently, I am a junior design manager for University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). The University is undergoing a $1 billion Campus Redevelopment. I have several responsibilities, that are related to 2 newly completed buildings; Frank Gehry's Building- Dr Chau Chak Business School and Denton Corker and Marshall's Building- Broadway Building. I am in charge of designing and coordinating the works for projects which are aimed to improve and reactivate spaces unutilised or poorly utilised spaces within the buildings. I am also in charge of the defect remediation process. I receive and monitor the defects from occupants and stakeholders. I then coordinate the works to remedy the defects. This involves preparing the scope of works, engaging the appropriate contractors and supervising the repair process. In some cases, not all design outlines have been met for the building.

The projects that I am asked to coordinate and design, require conversing with several stakeholders to ensure that the brief is fully understood. I enjoy working in a team, as it gives multiple perspectives on a project. It also means that I can learn from others strengths and vice versa. I then coordiante, supervise and manage the works utiling a mixture of time charts, and budget plans. I am required to give fortnightly updates to the director of the Programs Management Office. I have the support and assistance from my senior design manager when ever I need it, which allows me to constantly learn from his experience and knowledge.

I am required to check and certify all payments before passing them on to the Finance Department to be processed. This invovles ensuring there is money still allocated in an excel cost report. Depending on the contractor, I submit payment orders.

Currently, I am working on the Client's team and dealing with the architects and subcontractors as the client. This has allowed me to understand the expectations that clients have and I beleive this will allow me to be a more proactive member of your team. I understand how to communicate with clients, but also contractors and other designers involved.

Coming from an architectural background, I am aware and understand the importance of using mixed media to communicate ideas to clients or a potential audience. I have excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills. My ability to proficiently use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, as well as several modeling softwares, has definitely improved my visual communication skills.

I believe I am the perfect person to join your team, due to my experience as a project and design manager and my willingness to learn, determination and ability to work hard until I get it right. I hope that you will give me this opportunity.
