About me

I am a Postgraduate User Interaction Design with Management Studies Student at Kingston University, London. My degree focuses on core modules such as User Factors and Usability Testing that emphasises on usability requirements and identifying users. The management modules have helped out to bring a more professional edge. I am now keen to expand my knowledge and skills through a user centred approach in the field of usability. I am also keen to take every opportunity to gain in depth knowledge of current technology and utilize it to contribute innovative ideas that enrich people's lives. With approximately 2 years of experience in Web Designing at a fast paced advertising environment, I have gained commercial awareness. I have also developed proven skills of efficiency and client facing. Whilst working as a Web Designer at BC Web Wise Pvt. Ltd. in Mumbai, I worked alongside the Client Servicing department to assist them with their queries from external clients and maintained strong time management to ensure short deadlines were met. I have also been responsible for handling individual projects for their development and maintenance. For instance, during my course of work as a Web Designer at Urja Communications Pvt. Ltd. in Mumbai, I led a team and also worked strategically as part of a bigger team to set up an Intranet portal for a reputed Bank, which involved client side visits. This mainly consisted of setting up the whole portal through a CMS system that runs on Linux, which gave rise to many challenges. I worked alongside the Creative and Development Team, and together we came up with solutions to complex situations. I have worked effectively as a team and also helped in the training of new team members, introducing them to company procedures, current projects and clients. I have had the following responsibilities while working and studying. During my work experience, I have had the ability to expand my skills and knowledge, and apply them in practice. At Urja Communications Pvt. Ltd., I began working on XHTML, and Flash, and also developed my skills in javascript and actionscript. Further, while I was working at BC Web Wise Pvt. Ltd., I began to expand my skills in XHTML, following the W3C coding standings. During my short period of work over here, I further got the opportunity to advance my skills in XHTML as a part of Ajax. I have also had opportunities, where I have taken the initiative and stood forward. For instance, during the prototype stages of a website, all teams were encouraged to participate in creative brainstorming sessions. I had actively participated and my ideas were taken into consideration. I am confident in managing processes, as I have previously worked on the production of online campaigns for monthly mailers and newsletters. Here we had to understand the client's needs, get a creative from the creative department, implement the mailers and newsletters, and get the feedback from creative team and external client. Thus meeting the client's requirements and receiving their feedback on success, the mailers were sent out to the recipients. Having gained a perspective in usability and understanding user needs, I am keen on expanding this knowledge and applying it an industrial level. I am looking forward to take up challenges as this boosts up my current knowledge domain, and creates a learning curve in my career.
