About me

My name is Susan McEwen, a Furniture designer based in London. SAM design is a brand I created to represent me as a designer. I craft ideas into tangible products to enhance the quality of our living spaces, whether it's domestic or commercial. great place for you to tell a story and let your users know a little more about you.

I am inspired by design processes that merge materials with different properties or merging together different ideas. I call this, manipulative design, which is what drives my passion in design. By experimenting not only with different materials and their capabilities, but also with different art and design disciples, such as Architecture, Craft, Fashion, Graphics and more; I have developed great interests in Reuse design.

With my skills in design and knowledge in other areas of life, I aim to design products that are unique in appearance, useful in function, yet relate-able to the User's way of life.



When not designing I sometimes volunteer at 'Croydon Association for Young Single Homeless' also known as CAYSH. Working with other young people to help tackle sensitive issues troubling various youths in my local community. I also enjoy sketching, sculpting and keeping up to date with the latest in the creative industry. Recently I've been more involved with developing my interests in contemporary knitwear designs and experimenting with techniques that combines elements of knitting with Furniture designs.
