Dear Sir/Madam

I'm interested in applying for the Senior Graphic Designer role and have attached my CV as requested. I'm currently working as a Graphic Designer at the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) and manage all the in-house design work for this government department.

I work on the Mac and PC and have excellent knowledge of QuarkXPress, Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. I also have an understanding of the Microsoft packages and have been involved in designing templates and presentations in these programmes. I also have working knowledge of Flash and Dreamweaver which I use to create banners and basic web pages. At PHSO I am solely responsible for all the studio and design work and delegation of workload that comes through the studio.

My current role involves a hands-on approach to projects, making sure jobs are completed on time and adhering to budget. I also take responsibility for commissioning photographers and illustrators, liaise with other work colleagues, including senior management to ensure the brief is followed to their specifications.

I have a full understanding of all print processes and have worked predominately on print based materials ranging from annual reports, staff magazine, brochures, newsletters and mailers to designing exhibition stands and the branding supporting these events. I also have experience of electronic designing and have designed websites, including the Ofgem website, giving it a fresh new contemporary look and also bring the department into line with current Government accessibility requirements.

With the experience I have gained from working in a variety of environments and with ongoing personal skills development I'm equipped as a highly creative designer. I can cope with pressure, complete jobs on time and to a high standard of finish. I have learnt to be meticulous about my work as I feel it reflects the quality I expect of myself and that the clients too are entitled to expect.

I would like now to broaden my experiences where I would face fresh new challenges and experience stimulating new perspectives, and where I feel I could make a worthwhile contribution.
