About us
Deciding to research your family’s history is the first step in a rewarding journey that your relatives will treasure for generations.
A Steps to the Past® project begins with interviews to gather as much information as family members can remember, using photos and other items found at home that have useful information, like naturalization papers or birth certificates. Then we use a wide variety of online sources (like Ancestry, FamilySearch, and JewishGen), public and university libraries, and archives in the US and Europe. Maps, gazetteers, and specialized reference books are also essential tools.
For each project, Steps to the Past creates a database with source citations. We offer a variety of end products to suit our clients' needs, including charts, reports, slide shows, books, and videos.
Each family’s history is unique, and therefore projects and budgets vary greatly. Please call or email us for more information on how we can help preserve your family's heritage.
