About me
Hello, my name is Stephen Holliger, and I am an award-winning Audio Engineer, Sound Designer, and Re-Recording Mixer based in Chicago. I bring over a decade of professional experience in post-production audio, dialogue editing, sound effects design, music composition, and multi-platform mixing for film, branded content, podcasts, and broadcast. Since 2019, I have worked full-time in audio—first teaching at Chicago Filmmakers, then joining State Farm Headquarters in 2020—where I deliver sound editing, mixing, and audio post-production for video, social media, and digital campaigns.
My portfolio spans projects for The Onion, Gizmodo, Deadspin, AV Club, Clickhole, The Root, Founders Fund, and Wisecrack. My work has been recognized and featured by The Atlantic, Vice, Nerdist, Omeleto, Short of the Week, Vimeo, Fusion, Sundance, and Cannes. In addition to post-production, I am a multi-instrumentalist and composer who scores original music to picture under the moniker Swim Ignorant Fire, bringing a composer's emotional insight to my audio work.
I am proficient in Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, and industry-standard audio plugins for EQ, compression, noise reduction, and spatial mixing. My strengths include sound restoration, voiceover recording, ambience creation, and immersive audio experiences. Whether building detailed soundscapes or fine-tuning dialogue clarity, I approach each project with both technical precision and creative storytelling focus.
