About me

Stephen Delahunty- Fashion Photography GraduateCovering LetterI have been working for ASOS.com for over a year since completing my degree in Fashion Photography in 2008. My role there has given me experience in visual presentation for both print and online. Within this post I primarily use Adobe Photoshop, Indesign and to a lesser extent, Illustrator to create visually striking composites often promoting several products or promotions at any one time. It has given me the vital retail design experience that I wanted gain after studying more of the photography and retouching roles at University. Whilst at University I studied not only the practical side of photography but the understanding of visual language and how that applies to products as well as garments or people. I have shown an impetus for gaining extra curricular experience both in and out of my chosen lines of work throughout my time at University. I have produced artwork for companies such as River Island and Elizabeth Arden on a freelance basis. The River Island commission was to produce a series of 15 images using photography and computer generated images for display, large scale, within their new London headquarters. The work I did for Elizabeth Arden involved me working on ideas for the re-branding of one of its most popular products, the ‘8-Hour Creamâ€(TM). Understanding brand identity within this work was important, along with knowing its potential too reach un-tapped marketsComing from a fine art based background (funneled through into fashion, photography and design), I am constantly looking for new forms of expression and inspiration. I enjoy painting and regularly attend life-drawing sessions as I find this as a great form of relaxation and creativity. Video editing is another interest of mine and I am currently in the process of teaching myself Final Cut Pro, having made a few short films and music videos for local bands and artists. I enjoy learning new creative computer programs and I find that I pick them up pretty quickly after teaching myself how to use all the programs I currently use through a wealth of practice, trail and error. Over the past few years I have also been involved in organizing exhibitions throughout London. Volunteering with art collectives, we would set up shows to promote the creative work of young artists and recent graduates. I regularly helped curate some of the smaller shows. I am a very sociable person and find it very easy to work with people as my experience within ASOS shows. I work in a professional manner at all times and I value the importance of staff moral in completing projects on time. I regard myself as an all round creative person who is never happy to settle with the skills that I have acquired. Progression is important to me, not only in the immediate work scenario but within self development. I wouldnâ€(TM)t like to pigeon hole myself into one specific field, as I believe that skills acquired in other areas can always be beneficial in improving your ‘day-to-dayâ€(TM) work and creative eye.
