Even from an early age, I wanted to pursue a career in advertising, since I believe that it offers a very challenging and creative environment. Moreover, one of my biggest passions is to write. That's why I decided to study Communications and Mass Media at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, which also included marketing and advertising courses. All these years I have been attending a multiplicity of conferences and lectures in order to enhance my knowledge and understanding of the nature of marketing and advertising. During my second and third year in university, I worked as a full-time sports reporter in one of the biggest daily newspapers in Greece, "Ethnos". It was really fascinating, since it provided a secure environment for my first exposure to the notion of work and a sort of apprenticeship into how a company operates. However, since I wanted to develop my creative aspect I decided that a job in an advertising company would be more suitable for me. Then, my most significant work experience in advertisement began in November 2008, when I started working as a junior copywriter for the advertising agency, Ashley & Holmes. My basic work was with major accounts as Carrefour, Nokia, Swarovski, Folli Follie and some other minor customers. I assisted in the building of packages, TV spots, radio spots and outdoors and also took part in brainstorming meetings for specific ideas and concepts in creating powerful campaigns. One of the most beneficial experiences was to participate in specs (competitions) to attract new clients because I quickly learned how a client might be won over from the outset. After having this great experience I decided to apply for an MSc in Creative Advertising in Edinburgh Napier University for two main reasons; it would give me the opportunity to fulfill all my expectations regarding the advertising field and would provide me superior preparation for a fulfilling career. Having completed my studies and having acquired the MSc degree, I can firmly say that it was the right decision for me. It was the most fascinating experience so far, in which I came across with different cultures and people and learned the important role that the team plays in order for a task or a whole campaign, to be completed.
Right now I'm working as a copywriter in an e-commerce agency, writing online copy, titles, subtitles, body copy and newsletters.
On a personal level, I feel that I have been extremely privileged in my upbringing, my education, my initial opportunities for work and social life.
Now, I see this job as a further opportunity to acquire the proper methods and tools in the field that I have chosen, in order to be able to apply them to a career that I want so much to carry out.
