About me

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you to express interest in the role of Junior Graphic Designer. I graduated from the Arts University Bournemouth with a First Class Honours degree in Visual Communication. Throughout the course I worked on advertising campaigns, editorial design, packaging design, web design and the marketing and strategy behind them. In my final year I chose to specialise in Illustration.

After graduating, I spent 18 months freelancing as an illustrator working on a number of private fine art commissions to marketing and promotional design. I am currently working as an in house design assistant at Plastico Ltd; a large plastics company based in Mitcham. My role here includes working on promotional material and brochures, helping style photo shoots, creating paper mock-ups of potential products, taking and editing photos, creating digital mock-ups of potential products to send out to customers and creating artwork to send to the printer, amongst other things. Although I enjoy my work at Plastico and it has allowed me to build up my graphic design portfolio, I want to move into a role where the product or client allows me to be more creative. I really enjoy being hands on and creating something from scratch.

I communicate well in a team, I pay close attention to detail and set very high standards for myself. I have good drawing skills and I am extremely confident in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and have used other software in the Adobe Creative Suite. I have basic knowledge in using HTML and CSS and this is an area I would like to learn more about and improve in.
