About me

To whom it may concern,

My name is Sophie Connolly. I graduated last year from The University of Sheffield studying journalism and after reading about your Junior Trend Forecasting Assistant position I was immediately drawn in by how ideal this opportunity sounds. It would be a wonderful stepping stone into a a successful career and I know that I could fulfill the requirements expected of the candidate.

In the final year of my degree myself and a group of friends created a magazine for one of our modules. This involved sourcing articles and stories, interviewing people for them, writing them up and creating every single page of the finished piece. It was an exciting experience and pushed us all to the limit but I enjoyed the pressure and gained a 1st on the module. We used InDesign to create 'Ampersand' (the name of our magazine) and it gave me keen eye for detail as everything had to be perfect. As well as this I managed to create neat and accurate pages quickly in the short time we were given. I am sure these skills will benefit this role.

Through work experience/internships at magazines I have gained an insight into the world of fashion first hand. Having grown up reading publications that tell you the latest trends it was an a wonderful opportunity to be on the other side of things and watch the work come to life.

I use this insight to my advantage in my current position as a part-time sales advisor on women's wear in Debenhams. I am given the opportunity to create customer visuals and dress manikins in outfits which I think stand out and sell. It gives me great pleasure to advise customers on clothing and help them find the perfect piece for their special occasions. As well as this my role requires me to be trend aware and promote offers and new items to customers.
