About me

I'm an unflappable and experienced designer. Over 33 years working in design and publishing, 16 solid years of magazine layout and design experience. Proven and recent experience of work on company brochures. Possessing strong typography skills, excellent layout skills and the ability to follow a brief from initial brief through to print. Combined with a good working knowledge of Adobe Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Along with some html email development experience in Dreamweaver, website management in Wordpress and presentations made in Keynote. I am available for remote working freelance assignments, quite happy to do odd days or a week at a time at short notice.

On a personal level. I enjoy watching films, not all good over the years. I would pick out the director's of the films that have particulary moved, influenced me or that I watch over and over. They would be, in no particular order, Robert Mulligan (To Kill a Mockingbird), Justin Chadwick (Mandella), Blake Edwards (Breakfast at Tiffanys), Lewis Milestone (All Quiet on the Western Front) and Alfred Hitchcock (Vertigo and Rear Window).

I have read a lot of books. However, I think I could narrow it down to: Charles Dickens, George Eliot, Harper Lee, Thomas Keneally, George Orwell, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and my author of choice for a holiday, Nick Hornby.

I enjoy seeing art and I think I can appreciate 'good art' when I see it. Where I live, Milton Keynes, is blessed with a huge amount of public art and sculpture. You can't take a walk without seeing some form of art. I have two friends who are collectors of modern art and love visting their house to see their latest additions.

I do love music and it is not often quiet in my house! I particulalry enjoy Jazz, classic soul, reggae and SKA. I am a huge fan of Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday.

I am definitely a retired sportsman these days. I used to play every sport going: football, cricket, squash, hockey, basketball. Now I have to content myself with watching rather than taking part. I did collaborate on a cricket book early in 2022 which was very well received,
